Daily Bible Reading

I have a daily bible reading subscription. The particular one I subscribe to covers just the letters in the New Testament. I have a new chapter (in order) emailed every morning and use this as my centering moment before I start my day. I also try to post a verse or five to my facebook page to encourage others with something that stands out to me from the daily reading. At a chapter a day, I am able to read through the letters three times a year. Now I know some people would think reading the same thing three times a year may get boring, but I do not think so. Depending on what is happening in my world on that particular day, I see a different set of verses that speak to me within the chapter. (I attribute that to the Holy Spirit).

I really like the particular plan I am on because the letters were written to the churches. In them, I see how Christians should treat each other. How they should treat those outside the church, and how to live the Christian life. Each day brings lessons that my God wants me to hear and listen to. What an amazing gift!

I encourage everyone to have a reading plan that sends you daily readings to reflect upon. There are literally hundreds to choose from and almost all are free. I use BibleGateway.com. With them you can choose the complete Bible, the letters, the Gospels and many other reading plans. There are plans for men and plans for women. These daily readings should not replace serious Bible Study, but something to help us center ourselves before facing the world for the day. Something to think about…..
