The Ministry of Reconciliation: The Long Arc

Today, we gather to confront the heavy reality that while some endings are necessary because of the weight of sin, they are not necessarily the end of the story. In today’s topical teaching sermon, we will explore what it means to step into our role as ambassadors of a Great Exchange—specifically, the horizontal ministry of reconciliation where we exchange the death of war for the transformative power of God’s peace in our relationships with other people. Our vertical reconciliation with God through Christ is the soil in which our horizontal work of reconciliation grows fruit. Let us join together to worship the God who specializes in the complex creation of making all things new, trusting that our obedience is a sweet aroma to Him even when the ground beneath us still feels cold.
