Remember No More: The Promise of Forgiveness

Today we thank God as we remember his promise of forgiveness. This promise is one of the foundational aspects of our covenant relationship with God. Foretold by the prophet Jeremiah in chapter 31:31-34, and highlighted in Hebrews 8:6-13, God's forgiveness is concretized by His promise to "remember our sins no more". We come to the table this morning in worship, as we honor the God who has promised to bless those of us in a covenant relationship with Him with his forgetfulness. Not that God is incapable of recalling our sin, but he chooses to not memorialize our sin. Instead, our memorial is a meal designed to bring us to recall the forgiveness God has offered us in Jesus. Isaiah 43:25 "I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remember your sins no more."
