The Old Roots of a New Hope: Aaron

The Old Roots of a New Hope: Aaron

Have you ever stepped into worship or approached the Communion table feeling like an anxious outsider, wondering if your secret weaknesses will truly be tolerated in the presence of a holy God? For generations, religion meant standing at a terrifying distance, watching a temporary priest disappear behind a heavy curtain into a sacred room where no human was ever allowed to sit down or rest. But the good news of the gospel is a beautifully disruptive, posture-altering reality: Jesus died our sacrifice to carry our shame completely out of sight, and He rose our High Priest to permanently conquer the barrier. He did not just pay a legal debt from a distant courtroom; He reached into our isolated wilderness, took our hand, and carried us directly into the heavenly Holy of Holies with Him. Today, let us gather together to experience the promise of God’s covenant with us—the life-changing truth that where the Priest goes, you go—as Christ turns to the striving insider and the lonely wanderer alike, pulls out a chair, and invites us to finally sit down and rest securely in the presence of our heavenly Father.
