Filled with Light

Today we will study a short teaching of Jesus from Luke 11:33-36. In this passage Jesus reminds his followers to let the true light that give light to the world shine. If we look to Jesus, the light of the world will fill our hearts with his light, and we will become like city lights on a hill—shining bright in this crooked and corrupt generation. But be careful. Sometimes the light we think is light is actually darkness. The question this passage leaves us with is this: will we put Jesus under a basket and hide the light? Jesus is the light of the world. We will not exchange his name for any other source of identity, guidance, power, salvation, unity, or proclamation. His name is our mission.
