The goal of Friendly Avenue’s Hospitality Ministry is to bring honor and glory to God by providing a warm spirit of Christian friendliness to all attendees so that each person will feel genuine Christian affection, and first-time visitors will want to return.

The Hospitality Ministry exists because we recognize that every person has a common need of acceptance. To a visitor, genuine friendliness and an attentive community are important qualities of a church and guests seem to know immediately if they are in a place of welcome and acceptance. We understand it might be difficult to join a community where everyone is comfortable with their own routines and their own acquaintances. We seek to overcome this for our visitors by creating a warm, inviting place for everyone who enters our fellowship.

We strive to show the love of Christ to our guests and welcome them into our family through the following ways:

Welcome Center

The Welcome Center is a hub of activity on Sunday mornings. It’s a place for people to receive information and directions for the various classes and activities provided by Friendly.

Attendants are available to answer questions, hand out information and direct guests to the nursery, children, youth and adult classes. It’s also the place to get connected with a small group or involved in a special event. For more information on joining our staff of attendants, please contact Mark Brown or the church office.

Guest Information / Connection Cards / Membership Forms

The Hospitality Ministry seeks ways to identify and minister to both visitors and regular attendees. By filling out a Guest Information Form we are able to recognize first-time guests and reach out to them with a gift, a welcoming phone call, a card in the mail, or perhaps a visit at home or over coffee.  For those who have been visiting for a while we also have forms available for those who would like to choose Friendly as their church home.  New members often want to visit with a minister or elder to discuss how to get involved.

Little things mean a lot when you’re new to a church. And for regular attendees, Connection Cards (a tear-off section in the Sunday program) allow leadership to follow up with anyone who’s been absent for awhile. On the back of the card is a place to communicate needs or prayer requests.  Every card is read each week by our staff, and needs and prayer requests are followed up by our ministers and elders.  A simple phone call to say “hey, you’ve been missed” or perhaps an offer of a cup of coffee and conversation can be just what’s needed. It’s a great opportunity for Friendly to foster and grow Christian community, and to help our church minister effectively.
